Order those private created livestrong braclets that say some thing thats says I helped a cancer patient or something like that.

I was asked a similar question on another list some weeks ago. I agree that candy is way overdone. Fortunately, there are other things.
1) Bake sales. With spring and summer coming up, people are going to want sweets for their picnics and parties.
2)Raffles. Some people raffle off quilts, stuffed toys, or various handcrafts.
3) Or you could try selling the said crafts, or other items.
There are other things, but those are the main ones I thought of.
