Ben Starr returns to his old high school after MasterChef to speak at a fundraising event. He is introduced by his Honors English teacher, Mrs. Linda Davis, and speaks about the importance of extra curricular activities, the drawbacks of standardized testing, and honors teachers who influenced his life. After the speech, his pumpkin carrot cake is auctioned off for 00. (See separate video!)

Question by just wondering: Does anybody have any fundraising ideas for a church youth group?
Please no car washes or bake sales, we have done too many.

You can have a lock-in. It’s really fun and i did it with my youth group. Its pretty much a huge single-sex sleepover(you have them on different days) and you can watch movies and have discussions about them.

You can also sell things like lollipops to the church community after service

Also, my church held an international dinner, when after the service, people from all different backgrounds brought in food from their nationality. The entire church can take part and you only have to charge a small fee of like 2 or 3 dollars to eat.

My son is selling cookie dough for a school fundraiser. It is put out by EZFund and is available in chocolate chunk, sugar, m&m, chocolate mint chip, fiesta wedding, White chocolate, oatmeal raisin , snickerdoodle and double chocolate brownie. They also have soft pretzels, Kolaches and a pumpkin roll. Have any of you purchased any of these and are they any good. If so, let me know what you liked or didn’t like. They are $ 12.00 a piece which I find outrageous so I want to choose wisely. Thanks for any help.

The chocolate chunk is good. The nuts in the white chocolate one tasted a bit off. Go with chocolate chunk.

It is important for nonprofit organizations, whether just starting or a well established nonprofit, to create diversified streams of income. By developing multiple sources of funding, your organization will be less dependent on each revenue stream. The more diverse your organization’s funding channels are, the better your organization will be able to withstand hard economic times.

Grants, for example, are a great way for nonprofit organizations to generate the revenue needed to operate. As bank accounts shrink; individuals, organizations and foundations are becoming more selective over which organizations they are making contributions to. This is creating more competition between nonprofit organizations for the resources available. The organizations which are best equipped to deal with this competition are those which are the most diverse in their revenue streams less reliant on one single source.Organizations should look to fundraising efforts as a way of marketing and getting the organization name out into the community as opposed to just generating revenue for your organization. Fundraising events while they may not always create a large amount of income for an organization cannot always be measured by the amount of money they generate at that event. The possibility of future donations and contributions based on the relationship which will be established at a properly structured event can generate continuing revenue and benefactor contacts far into the future.

Organizations which have been successful time using one revenue source need to establish a variety of untapped channels of revenue. Any organization will be strengthened by new and innovative sources of income, and additional funding is always a welcome supplement to organizations wanting more freedom in accomplishing their mission and fulfilling their goal.
