Question by tarnyboo: Need help with a Fundraiser Letter….?
The letter is for our new football team that we are starting?
The letter will be about a New Football club that we are trying to start. We will be opening up brand new club and I need some help on wording it in order to send it to a lot of donors. We will need things like equipment for the children, gear, office equipment, etc. I have a couple of thoughts, but I am not sure of how to put it together. If anyone has a sample letter for sports and can send it ti me I will appreciate it.

Just be sure to include these in the letter:

- A description of what you’re trying to do: what is this club for, which age groups, why is this new or different from what’s already available in the community

- An explanation of why this is important: what are the benefits to the community?

- A list/description of what you need. Indicate whether you will accept donated supplies (be specific!) or just money. (For example, you might say you need money for the uniforms & new helmets, but are willing to accept donations of office supplies & equipment.)

- If possible, describe the benefits for the person making a donation. Do they get something free? If you are asking a local business for support, will they get some advertising in return?

Close by thanking the reader for their time & reiterate that any support is appreciated.

If this football club is not specific to a certain group of children, e.g. a specific school, you can include in the “P.S.” section how someone might be able to get their own child signed up for the club. This is just another way to make the donation even more personal, if it means the person is helping their own child in a community activity.

We set up the website which you can add links to and will be personalized with your organizations name etc. Then all sales that go through your site earn you 15% commission. We send monthly checks to you for your commissions earned. Your only job is to promote the site which can be easily done via a link on your website and through your newsletters etc. The nice thing is that it is free and requires little effort or volunteers. It just stays up year round.

Well, you could do a bake sale, have a basketball (or other sport) tournament, have a talent show,or a raffle (if you can get some sponsors to donate stuff).

After I select Yahoo groups and select the group schools & education, then Browse for more specialized Groups and choose “fund raising” Is there a way to narrow the specialized group down to for example “bay area, CA school fundraising”? There is a search box in the specialized group area, but when I try different searches and cannot find what I am looking for.

I’ve looked everywhere on the web for a template to help me write a letter requesting for donations from companys for my dads cancer fundraiser we are holding in a couple of months. All the ones I can locate are for non profit organizations raising cash and none for folks raising money for a good friend or household member.
